Prettys' Construction Unit draws together the firm’s expertise in construction, enabling us to provide a unified and multi-disciplinary service. The unit has particular expertise in non-contentious project work and contentious matters and represents the interests of a number of local, national and institutional clients.

Projects

We advise on the structuring and implementation of projects, developments, PFI and contract drafting.

The unit has a comprehensive understanding of the different needs and requirements of specific projects, which enables it to assist its clients in drafting effective contracts. In particular, the unit advises on and negotiates the drafting of building contracts, warranties, bonds and guarantees.

Dispute Resolution

We also advise on the resolution of construction disputes through the courts, by arbitration, adjudication and the various forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution.

The unit also draws upon the strengths of the firm’s experienced insurance team which assists construction clients in relation to contractual, fire, professional indemnity and property damage issues. In addition, the unit also provides advice and assistance in the areas of personal injury and health and safety.

Prettys is a member of the National Federation of Builders, the Faculty of Building, the East Anglia Construction Safety Group and the Working Well Together Health and Safety Initiative.

What they say about us

Industry nous and a focus on delivering a tailored client service has led the National Federation of Builders to count this outfit among its recommended legal suppliers. Peter Blake is typical of the group's client-oriented ethos, demonstrating "top-notch" communication skills and an enviable ability to step into the shoes of the client."

Quoted from Legal 500 2006,
