Landowners Cut Down to Size

This item relates to a case in which Prettys represented the successful applicant. The defendant landowners lived and worked in London but owned a country estate in Norfolk of approximately 25 acres. One weekend they invited some friends and colleagues to help them maintain and pollard some yew trees in their grounds. Once cut, they decided to burn the clippings. They were aware that the smoke would be unpleasant for the neighbours and so they decided to burn the yew in a paddock. They were unaware that yew is poisonous.
