Throughout December 2015 and January 2016, specialist property lawyers Prettys ran a collection for Ipswich Housing Action Group (IHAG).

IHAG manages a dispersed hostel of 14 houses owned by Ipswich Borough Council, Orbit Housing Association, Stonham Housing Association and IHAG.   IHAG also manages an advice centre for the vulnerable, often homeless adults, at the Chapman Centre.  This supports and enables individuals to reclaim control over their lives.

Staff of Prettys, which gives expert property legal advice, rallied together in Chelmsford and Ipswich to collect many boxes full of useful items, including food, cutlery and household items.  These were delivered to the charity at the beginning of February.

Michael and Melissa, two of Prettys’ trainees, also took part in a tour of the Chapman Centre’s facilities, including its showers, bathrooms, laundry, health clinic and money advice service.

IHAG welcomes donations of food and personal items throughout the year but specific needs change on a weekly basis, so it is recommended to contact the Chapman Centre if you are thinking of donating.  If you would like to find out more about IHAG, please visit their website.

Sue Raychaudri, Chapman Centre Manager said: “On behalf of everyone at the IHAG-Chapman Centre, I would like to thank Prettys, for the recent generous donation of tinned food items.  Your donation will be used to assist us to continue our work with marginalised adults in Ipswich.  The charity’s aim is to change the lives of marginalised single homeless adults by providing a range of professional support services so these can act as a stepping stone from homelessness and social exclusion to permanent accommodation, independence and social inclusion. Your kind donation and continued support will enable us to do this, so thank you for your assistance which is very much appreciated.”
