A team from our Ipswich office are in training for the upcoming Great East Run with the aim of raising funds for the only national charity dedicated to helping workers in the construction industry.

The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity provides financial and emotional support to the construction community, and their families, who have suffered an injury or long-term illness or just need some extra support. The charity has been operating for over 60 years and in this time has provided over £17.5 million of support to 16,500 construction families.

The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity provides a 24/7 Construction Industry Helpline access to free and confidential support services including emergency financial aid, advice on welfare and mental wellbeing and support on legal, tax and debt management matters.

Prettys works closely with the construction industry both locally and nationally providing a range of services from legal advice to specialist training.

Prettys’ Partner Peter Blake, who is part of the team doing the Great East Run, commented; “We have very close connections with the construction sector and we have seen the positive impact that the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity has made on those working in this challenging industry. As the only charity in the UK that supports construction workers and their families, we are delighted to raise money for them by taking part in the Great East Run.”

The Prettys team of runners includes Peter Blake, Matthew Cole, Louise Plant and Alice Tennant and they will be taking on the 13.1 mile course of the Great East Run on Sunday 16th September.

Bill Hill, CEO, Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity said; “Last year, our helpline supported 1,524 families in crisis and as we receive no public funding, we rely entirely on the generosity of people within and associated with the construction industry to help us continue our vital work. Very best of luck to the team of runners at Prettys who are taking on the Great East Run on our behalf.”
