National Pro Bono week

December 2016

National Pro Bono Week, an annual event sponsored by the Law Society, the Bar Council and the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx), took place from 7 – 11 November 2016.

The aim of the week was to celebrate the breadth and impact of pro bono work undertaken by the legal profession across the year.

Prettys ran a pro bono clinic throughout the week in partnership with the local legal charity Ipswich and Suffolk Council for Racial Equality (ISCRE), offering five free legal advice sessions on various areas of law. The appointments covered a wide range of issues from family law to property law.

Prettys also volunteers on a pro bono basis each month for the Suffolk Legal Advice Clinic run by ISCRE. As part of its 110th birthday celebrations, Prettys has committed to completing at least 110 hours of pro bono throughout the year; this target has already been exceeded, with over twenty hours completed in National Pro Bono Week alone.
