Prettys teams praised in Legal 500 2016

Over recent years, Prettys has increased its presence across the East of England and beyond, representing both commercial and private clients. With the results of the 2016 Legal 500 tables revealed, it is clear that Prettys’ position as a major player in the region has been cemented.

The Legal 500 not only reviews the performance of the different practices but also praises the outstanding work of individuals.

Within the corporate and commercial practice, the ‘always excellent’ senior partner Ian Waine is commended as ‘a superb operator, who is very highly rated for corporate finance work’, while ‘diligent and practical’ partner Jon Bloor is also recommended. Both Ian and Jon are also singled out for their work within the specialist banking and finance sector.

Prettys’ commercial litigation practice ‘compares well to larger regional firms but is more down to earth’ and head of dispute resolution Peter Blake ‘measures up to London lawyers’. Meanwhile Roland Sharp is noted as ‘one of the best commercial litigators around’.

The employment team at Prettys has seen positive growth this year and has a reputation for ‘excellent overall advice delivered in a reliably accessible manner’. Both Matthew Cole and the ‘professional, pragmatic and level headed’ Kelly Sayers are singled out for their ‘superb, practical advice’.

Prettys’ family law practice is referred to as ‘one of the strongest teams in the region’ which stands out for its ‘client-centric approach’.  Partner Georgie Hall is ‘a compassionate and understanding lawyer who looks for creative solutions and leads the team with gusto’. Georgina Rayment and her ‘no-nonsense approach’ and the calm, unflappable’ Victoria Mayhew (nee Jones) are also recommended.

Partner and head of estates Zoe Hodge is noted as one of the leading individuals in the region and is described as ‘friendly, personable and empathic’ with the estates team described as ‘one of the top firms for client engagement’.

Commercial property has long been one of Prettys’ key strengths with partner Tim Bacon providing a ‘quality of advice not often found in firms of this scale’. On the construction team the ‘exceptionally competent’ Rebecca Palmer and Peter Blake are also recommended.

Within the transport, shipping and logistics practice, Roger White and Naomi Eccles are endorsed for their range of skills and expertise.

The Legal 500 overview of the region highlights that, ‘Prettys is gaining momentum under CEO Ian Carr’, who commented: “I am delighted with Prettys’ rankings within the 2016 Legal 500. Our partners and staff have worked incredibly hard to deliver bespoke solutions and advice for our clients. We pride ourselves on the knowledge and experience we have across a range of service areas both for corporate and private clients. Our ambition is to further grow our presence both in East Anglia and nationally as we continue to deliver the very best results and outcomes.”
