The Legal 500 rankings for UK Solicitors were released on 4 October. The Legal 500 is a leading directory and uses research, submissions from law firms and interviews with clients and professionals to determine rankings for law firms across the UK.

Prettys is ranked for all 9 areas of legal expertise for which submissions were made. The Prettys team is obviously delighted with the rankings they have received in the 2024 edition of the directory.

The four equity Partners at Prettys are no strangers to the Legal 500. Matthew Cole, Ian Waine, Georgie Hall and Peter Blake have been ranked as ‘Leading Individuals’ for many years. They are very well known in the region’s business community and remain the pillars of the firm, combining their client work with spending time training and mentoring Prettys’ stars of the future.

Ian Waine’s Corporate and Commercial team (Tier 2) is singled out for a ‘professional service with a friendly and approachable culture’. The Legal 500 recognises that the team is large enough to cover expertise in many specialist areas. One of those areas is data protection and partner, Emma Loveday-Hill, continues to build a healthy client base providing support to businesses both local, national and international.  The commitment to developing new talent is recognised with Corporate and Commercial Partner, Dan Billson’s recognition as a ‘Next Generation Lawyer’ in the directory.

The Employment team, praised for ‘always seeing it through the lens of the employer’, and the Commercial Disputes team, considered to be ‘practical, diligent and very timely’, both also rank in Tier 2 in the released rankings for 2024.  Head of Commercial Services, Matthew Cole comments “The rankings across all of our commercial services demonstrate a consistent level of expertise and client service. We can also celebrate some real personal achievements, Dan Billson in Corporate and Commercial and Sheilah Cummins, Senior Associate in our Employment team, who has been recognised as a ‘Rising Star’.

As well as excellent results for commercial services, the commitment to private clients is recognised with a Tier 2 ranking for both Family and Private Tax, Trusts and Probate.

The solicitors within Personal Law are recognised as offering a smart and creative approach to client matters with a focus on understanding client’s needs. Georgie Hall, Head of Personal Law comments “I am delighted for our Personal Law teams. The recognition that our teams offer an incredibly client-focused approach is important to us.

The appreciation of Georgina Rayment, ranked as a ‘Leading Individual’ in Family law and particularly Louise Plant for her work in Personal Injury, a very competitive offering in the region, is well deserved.
