Matthew studied law at the London School of Economics and Political Science before qualifying as a Solicitor at a leading City law firm in 1995. He joined Prettys in 1997 and became a Partner in 2002.

Matthew’s clients include FTSE 100 companies, local authorities, NHS Trusts and charities. He advises on the full range of HR issues including grievances, performance management, disputes and dismissals, and collective and strategic matters such as redundancies and restructurings, mergers and outsourcing exercises, and policy making. He also advises on pensions matters to the extent to which they affect employers, and data protection. Matthew’s clients span a range of sectors, but he has particular expertise in working with organisations within healthcare, logistics, leisure, local government, aviation, insurance and bloodstock. He also acts for senior executives.

Matthew is the UK contributor to the American Bar Association’s Global Guide to Restrictive Covenants and Trade Secrets in Employment Law.

Matthew also advises on issues relating to data protection and information management, including implementation of the GDPR, dealing with subject access requests and advising organisations on loss of data, data theft and the data transfer.  He provides training on data protection compliance, both to businesses generally, and in specific contexts, in particular in respect of the transfer and use of health-related data.

Louise Plant

Louise is an Associate in Prettys Personal Injury and Insurance Services Department based in Ipswich. She qualified in 2003 and since then has specialised in personal injury litigation.

She handles a wide range of personal injury and some non personal injury claims, relating to road traffic accidents, public liability, occupiers' liability, employer's liability and some disease / occupational health cases.

Louise acts for both private individuals and companies either bringing or defending personal injury claims.

She has dealt with a number of complex and often high value cases including Animals Act matters, road traffic accidents, occupiers liability claims pursuant to both the 1957 and 1984 Acts, accidents at sea involving ship owner’s clubs, claims involving multi-party and contractual / sub-contractor issues, as well as claims involving Highways Authorities and Utilities providers working on the highways and on private property.

Jade Boyle

Jade joined Prettys in 2015 as a Litigation Executive in the Insurance Department after 7 years at a regional law firm where she handled claims for uninsured losses resulting from road traffic accidents and more recently worked with clients with brain injuries in a Court of Protection team. Jade also has experience in defending personal injury claims at a firm in the region.

She is currently studying with CILEX Law School and is an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.

Jade has experience in a variety of road traffic related personal injury matters, employers liability claims and public liability claims. She deals with claims varying from general whiplash injuries to more complex orthopaedic and psychological injuries.
